Thailand banned castrations......

Read a story on yahoo that Thailand banned castration for minors below 18. The operation is usually done for 4,000 baht so that the person's body can remain as feminine as possible before he undergo Sex Reassignment Surgery (SRS). Read the whole story here: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/afp/20080402/tts-health-thailand-gay-transsexuals-5b8313a.html

As Christians, we understand that mutilation of the body is against Christian teachings. Throughout history, this type of mutilation has been performed for various reasons. An interesting fact: one of the early church fathers, Origen, took a verse in the bible literally that he performed castration on himself.

My question is: How do we as Christians view those pple who undergo Sex Reassignment
Surgery (especially those who are also Christians)? How do we recouncil them with the word of God?

Your take? Know it is a taboo subject which Christians seldom touch on, but thought it would be interesting anyway =)
