Eight years ago, a US sailor was having his meal onboard the USS Cole when a "voice" inside him told him that he "shouldn't be there (at the mess), get out". The voice came to him twice and he thought he should leave. He left immediately. Moments later, the USS Cole was struck by suicide bombers using a primitive torpedo. The mess was also struck in the attack......
Another case was an American pilot whose plane was shot down in Serbia. He parachuted and found himself in the wilderness, fearing that he would be captured and shot by Serbian militia who knew the terrain better than him. He had no food whatsoever and fed on grass and rainwater. After a week, just before his radio ran out of battery, somebody responded and he was rescued. The person who responded to him was about to give up because his fuel was low, but he thought he should try for a few more times before he return to base, and his persistence paid off. A few years later, the pilot quitted the air force and took up studies in divinity.
Sometimes, we encounter things which drastically changed our outlook in life. Probably God want to preserve the persons mentioned above for his purpose.
I never have God spoke to me (literally as in a voice), but I have promptings which tell me what I should do and should not. Of course, not as dramatic as the two stories (life and death situation) which I mentioned above.
Anyone has any experience to share?
